A joint venture financed by Cheshire County Cricket Club and Cheshire Cricket Board sees the formation of the Cheshire County Development XI with effect from the 2009 season. The team will build on the excellent foundations of its predecessors, the County Club's A XI (formerly 2nd XI) and the Board's Under 19s. The aim is player development from Cheshire Youth Cricket (CYC) and/or league cricket in Cheshire to Minor County or First Class Cricket by providing 2 day matches against quality opposition. The majority of the players will be aged between 18 and 24 but will also accommodate exceptional younger talent as well as late developers.Players will be selected on the basis of consistently high performances for Cheshire Clubs or Age Group County Cricket. The team will be managed by a joint committee. Manager (Steve Amison) and Coach (Chris Murphy) are responsible for day to day matters, and joined by Andy Newton (County Club) and Richard Newton (County Board) to oversee policy and organisational matters.
Steve Amison 0161-494-5297 or 07771567494 will be pleased to hear from any Cheshire Club about potential players.
