CHESHIRE ECB COACHES ASSOCIATION

Out of a national total of 10,000 Cheshire has over 500 members of the ECB Coaches Association (which formally came into being on 1 Jan 2002) and can therefore be regarded as a leading County Association. However there is always a need for more coaches and the Cheshire Cricket Board Development Office 01606-871200 organises a comprehensive Coach Education Programme for new and existing Coaches all in line with the ECB Coaching syllabus

CHESHIRE ECB COACHES ASSOCIATION

The end of the cricket season signals the start of the coaching season and is the time that 3 School Indoor Centres become Centres of Learning for approx 150 new coaches and 150 assistant coaches.

We use Birkenhead School, Queens Park in Chester, and Wilmslow High School for UKCC1 and UKCC2 courses and for the new ECB Coach Development Workshops. Cheshire organised 2 UKCC1 and 6 UKCC2 Courses, and 2 Coach Development Workshops in 2009/20 with Peter Hancock, Dave Parry, Mike Fell, Richard Newton, Graeme Rickman, Bob Milne, Chris Murphy, Peter Brooks, Gavin Colebourn and Colin Grindey working as Tutors and Assessors.

The Coach Development Workshops have proven to be extremely beneficial for those coaches wishing to add to their coaching knowledge. These are 6 separate workshops of 3 hours each, covering Batting analysis (2), Fielding and Keeping, Coaching in the Nets, Coaching a Team and Bowling Analysis.

We will run 8 Parents Introduction Courses at Clubs to equip local volunteers to support the qualified coaches at matches and practice sessions, and also plan to run 8 Club Coach Refresher Courses in the pre-season period.

There are 536 members of the ECB Coaches Association in Cheshire out of a total national membership of around 10,000.

There are 10 tutors currently delivering and assessing Cheshire Coach Education Courses and through the Board's Workforce Development Plan we are looking to increase this number during the next 12 months.

The Association under the chairmanship of Dave Parry continues to meet the requirements of ECB and Cheshire Cricket Board.
